My Son Has Graduated

Watching you graduate from high school fills my heart with gratitude and deep emotion. As I look back on the past seventeen years, I can clearly see God's grace and faithfulness in your life. He has been with you every step of the way, faithfully guiding you through each stage of your journey.

Four years ago, our family left Hong Kong and began a new life in Canada. For you, it was a tremendous transition—a new country, a new culture, a different education system, a new language, and the challenge of building new friendships. For a teenager, it meant starting over in many ways. It wasn't easy, and there were many adjustments to make. Yet I thank God that you never gave up in the face of those challenges. Instead, you embraced them, learned from them, and gradually adapted to your new life. Through it all, you have become more mature, resilient, and independent.

One of the things that brings me the greatest joy is seeing how God has gradually revealed the path He has prepared for you. I still remember that when you were studying in Hong Kong, mathematics was never your strongest or favourite subject. At times, it left you discouraged and lacking confidence. Who would have imagined that after coming to Canada, God would use different teachers, a new learning environment, and your own perseverance to slowly rebuild your confidence in math? Not only did you overcome your earlier struggles, but you also discovered that you genuinely enjoy analyzing, thinking critically, and solving problems. Over time, mathematics became something you loved, and through it, you found both your passion and a direction for your future.

As your father, I believe this is much more than academic progress—it is God's work in your life. Often, God doesn't transform our abilities overnight. Instead, He patiently uses life's experiences to build our confidence and reveal the gifts He has placed within us. Today, seeing you begin the next chapter at the university you've always hoped to attend, majoring in a finance-related field, reminds me that God's plans truly exceed anything we could have imagined or asked for.

As a pastor, I often encourage others to seek God's calling rather than simply pursuing worldly success. I remind them that the greatest goal is not to become successful by the world's standards, but to discover and follow God's purpose for their lives. Now, as I watch my own son gradually find his own path, I am even more convinced that God's leading is unique for every individual. He may not change where we begin, but He can completely transform the direction of our lives. He may not remove every difficulty immediately, but He faithfully uses those challenges to shape us and prepare us for His greater purposes.

My greatest desire for you is not that you achieve worldly success, but that you love God, honour Him, and keep Christ at the very centre of your life. As you begin university, I pray that you will grow not only in knowledge but also in faith, character, and spiritual maturity. May you always seek God's will first, remain humble, teachable, and thankful, and allow Him to continue leading every step of your journey.

Always remember that God is your firm foundation and your most dependable source of strength. When you experience success, give Him all the glory. When you face difficulties, hold on to Him even more tightly. The God who faithfully led you through the challenges of adapting to life in Canada will continue to guide you through university, your career, your future family, and every new season of your life.

As your dad, I will always be here to support you, walk beside you, and pray for you. I will continue to ask God to give you wisdom and strength, to direct your steps, guard your heart and mind, and help you remain faithful to Him throughout your life. May you live out the wonderful purpose He has prepared for you, bringing glory to Him and becoming a blessing to many others.

Graduation is not the finish line—it is simply the beginning of a new chapter. May you move forward with faith, courage, and hope as you continue to run the race God has prepared for you.

Congratulations on your graduation! I love you always, and I will always be proud of you.
